Brain scans may predict which depression drug works best

NCT ID NCT07022405

First seen May 17, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether the medication pramipexole can improve symptoms of depression by acting on specific brain circuits. Researchers will use brain scans to see if people with different circuit patterns respond differently. About 60 adults with recent depression symptoms will take pramipexole for 8 weeks, then taper off over 2 weeks. The goal is to find a personalized treatment option for those who haven't benefited from standard antidepressants.
