New dental technique could save teeth and gums
NCT ID NCT07156695
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a dental procedure called Deep Marginal Elevation (DME) in 36 adults with deep cavities. DME uses a special cement to raise the cavity margin, making it easier to clean and restore. Researchers will check gum fluid and X-rays to see if the procedure affects gum inflammation and bone health over one month.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Deep Marginal Elevation (DME) procedure using resin-modified glass ionomer cement and nanofilled composite resin
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show that DME is a safe and effective way to restore deep cavities without harming gum or bone health.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 36 participants and a short follow-up of one month. Results may not apply to everyone, and the procedure's long-term effects are unknown.
