First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tested two simple, drug-free ways to help adults feel less pain and anxiety during a blood draw. 264 people were randomly assigned to use virtual reality, practice deep breathing, or receive standard care. The results showed that deep breathing worked better than VR for reducing pain, and both techniques helped with anxiety about the same amount.
