First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether a newer, directional type of deep brain stimulation can better improve movement problems in people with Parkinson's disease compared to standard stimulation. Ten participants who already have brain electrodes will have their stimulator settings changed to compare the two modes. The goal is to see if the directional approach reduces motor symptoms and side effects.
