NCT ID NCT07056348

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether adjusting deep brain stimulation (DBS) can improve movement, speech, and swallowing in people already implanted with DBS for conditions like tremor, stroke, or traumatic brain injury. Researchers will test hand dexterity, grip strength, facial movement, and swallowing with and without stimulation. The goal is to find better ways to tune the device for each person.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) device

What this could lead to

If it works, this could help fine-tune DBS settings to improve hand movement, speech, and swallowing for people with movement disorders.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study with no control group, so results may not apply to everyone. Risks include possible discomfort or lack of improvement from stimulation adjustments.
