Brain zap for shakes: could it also change your breath?

NCT ID NCT05381688

Summary

This study aimed to learn if deep brain stimulation, a treatment for severe tremor, also affects simple breathing functions like how long someone can hold their breath. It planned to test this in patients already scheduled to receive the treatment for essential or dystonic tremor. The study was designed as a detailed 'N-of-1' trial, meaning each person would be their own control, with the stimulation turned on and off in a random order to compare results.
