New CT scan could replace MRI for faster cancer staging

NCT ID NCT07343271

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special CT scan (dual-energy CT) works as well as MRI for staging mouth and throat cancers. If it does, patients may need one less scan, speeding up treatment and freeing up MRI machines. The study will enroll 30 adults with these cancers and compare the accuracy of the two imaging methods.
