Can a pamphlet ease the anxiety of choosing thyroid cancer treatment?
NCT ID NCT07536412
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
Low-risk thyroid cancer grows very slowly and has a 99% survival rate, but choosing among three treatment options can be stressful. This study gives patients a decision aid pamphlet right after diagnosis, before they see a surgeon. The pamphlet explains the options and lists questions to ask. Researchers will measure whether it reduces decision anxiety and helps patients feel more ready to choose.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- decision aid pamphlet (CQUPLE)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this simple pamphlet could help patients feel less anxious and more ready to choose a treatment option.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small early study (34 people) testing a pamphlet, not a drug. It may not reduce anxiety for everyone, and results may not apply to other cancers.
