New study tests if prostate cancer gene test works equally well in black men

NCT ID NCT02723734

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at whether the Decipher tumor test can predict aggressive prostate cancer with the same accuracy in African-American men as in non-African-American men. The test was developed mainly from samples of European descent, but African-American men have higher rates of prostate cancer and death from it. Researchers will follow 240 men for two years to see if the test helps doctors choose the right treatment—avoiding unnecessary side effects for low-risk patients and giving more aggressive therapy to those who need it.
