New study aims to spot hidden heart attack risks with High-Tech imaging

NCT ID NCT07548554

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at 40 people who recently had a heart attack and had one blockage treated. Researchers will use special pressure wires and optical imaging to examine other blockages that were not treated. The goal is to see how many of these leftover blockages are actually dangerous and might need treatment to prevent another heart attack.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to better ways to identify which non-culprit blockages are dangerous and need treatment, potentially preventing future heart attacks.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The tests are complex and not yet standard practice, so benefits are uncertain.
