Major trial tests skipping radiation for Low-Risk breast cancer

NCT ID NCT07554573

First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looks at whether women with a low-risk type of early breast cancer (DCIS) can avoid radiation therapy after lumpectomy without a meaningful increase in cancer coming back. About 5,270 women will be grouped by a special test that predicts their risk. Those with low-risk scores will be randomly assigned to get radiation or not, and researchers will track cancer recurrence over time. The goal is to spare low-risk patients from unnecessary treatment side effects.
