New hope for veterans in crisis: can a special therapy group save lives?
NCT ID NCT05000749
Summary
This study is testing whether adding a special therapy skills group to standard VA mental health care helps veterans at high risk of suicide. The group teaches skills to manage overwhelming emotions, which are a major risk factor. Researchers are comparing veterans who get the extra group therapy to those who receive only the usual VA care to see if it reduces emotional distress and suicide attempts.
