Brain pacemaker offers hope for most severe OCD cases

NCT ID NCT02773082

Summary

This study is testing a surgical treatment called deep brain stimulation (DBS) for people with severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) that hasn't improved with standard medications and therapy. DBS involves implanting a small device, similar to a pacemaker, that sends electrical signals to specific areas of the brain. The goal is to reduce the severe symptoms of OCD for patients who have very few other treatment options left.
