Brain wave test may Fine-Tune Parkinson's stimulation
NCT ID NCT07485621
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether recording brain signals (called local field potentials) can help doctors pick the best deep brain stimulation (DBS) contacts for people with Parkinson's disease. About 40 participants will have these recordings done during routine care. The goal is to see if the signal-based choice matches the one doctors make using standard methods.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a more data-driven way to select DBS settings, potentially improving symptom control for Parkinson's patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small observational study, not a treatment trial. It only checks if LFP recordings match clinical choices, not if they improve outcomes. Results may not apply to all patients.
