Could mastectomy become a day surgery? new study tests Same-Day discharge
NCT ID NCT07510698
First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study compares a new care pathway (AMADeuS) where women have mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction while awake and go home the same day, versus standard hospital care with an overnight stay. Researchers want to see if the day-surgery approach controls pain just as well and is equally safe within the first month. The trial involves 100 women with early breast cancer or high genetic risk who are suitable for day surgery and telemedicine follow-up.
