Heart bypass patients: could a second blood thinner save more lives?

NCT ID NCT03560310

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study compares two blood-thinning drugs (ticagrelor plus aspirin) against aspirin alone in over 2,200 patients who had heart bypass surgery after a recent heart attack or unstable angina. The goal is to see if the two-drug combination reduces the risk of major heart problems, such as another heart attack, stroke, or death, within 12 months. Participants must be 18 or older and have had their first bypass surgery within 6 weeks of a heart event.
