Could a pill that calms brain inflammation slow Parkinson's?

NCT ID NCT07157735

Summary

This trial is testing whether a new drug called dapansutrile can slow the progression of Parkinson's disease by reducing inflammation in the brain and body. Researchers will enroll 36 people with early-stage Parkinson's to take either the drug or a placebo pill daily for six months, followed by an optional six-month period where everyone gets the drug. The main goals are to see if the drug is safe and if it lowers levels of inflammation in the blood, spinal fluid, and brain.
