New pill aims to tame the agony of sudden gout attacks

Summary
This study is testing whether an experimental pill called dapansutrile can safely reduce the severe pain and swelling of a sudden gout attack. About 300 adults currently experiencing a gout flare-up will take either the study drug or a placebo pill twice a day for one week. Researchers will measure how well the drug relieves joint pain and other symptoms compared to the placebo.
