Could a common muscle relaxant cut narcotic use after hysterectomy?
NCT ID NCT07664956
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding cyclobenzaprine, a muscle relaxant, to standard pain medicines (ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and short-term narcotics) improves pain control and reduces narcotic use after minimally invasive hysterectomy. About 36 women undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy will be randomly assigned to receive either cyclobenzaprine or a placebo for one week after surgery. Pain scores and medication use will be tracked.
