Scientists hunt for ways to spot brain damage in living athletes

NCT ID NCT06860828

Summary

This study aims to find ways to diagnose Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a brain disease linked to repeated head impacts, in living people. It will enroll 350 participants, including former college and professional football players, healthy controls, and people with Alzheimer's disease. Researchers will use brain scans, blood tests, and memory assessments to look for unique signs of CTE and understand how it differs from other dementias.
