A simple blood draw could spot bladder Cancer's return
NCT ID NCT07756437
First seen Aug 10, 2026 · Last updated Aug 11, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether a blood test can find tiny pieces of tumor DNA in people with muscle-invasive bladder cancer or upper tract urothelial cancer. Researchers will compare DNA from tumor tissue with DNA in blood samples taken during routine care. The goal is to see how well the test detects cancer-related mutations and whether it might predict recurrence or remission over two years. Participants do not receive any experimental treatment, and their doctors will not see the test results during the study.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A blood-based circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) test
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this blood test could help doctors detect cancer recurrence earlier and tailor treatments for bladder and upper tract cancers.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage observational study, so the test may not prove accurate enough for routine use. It does not change treatment during the study, and results need further validation.
