Blood test may spot returning throat cancer earlier
NCT ID NCT04696744
First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looked at whether circulating tumor cells (CTCs) found in the blood can help predict if oropharyngeal cancer will come back after treatment. Researchers took blood samples from 12 patients at different times—before, during, and after treatment—to count and study these cells. The goal was to see if CTCs could give an early warning of cancer recurrence, helping doctors monitor patients more closely.
