Experimental CAR-T therapy takes on tough leukemia
NCT ID NCT07233018
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage trial tests a new treatment called CT0991, which uses a patient's own immune cells engineered to attack leukemia cells. It will enroll 24 adults with acute myeloid leukemia that has returned or not responded to standard therapy. The main goals are to check safety, find the right dose, and look for signs that the cancer shrinks or disappears.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CT0991 CAR-T cells
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for patients with hard-to-treat acute myeloid leukemia.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small Phase 1 trial focused on safety, not proof of effectiveness. CAR-T therapy can cause severe side effects like cytokine release syndrome.
