Simple scan could prevent surgery surprises
NCT ID NCT07296224
Summary
This study looked back at past patients to see if a simple CT scan before weight-loss surgery could help predict when surgeons might need to change their plan during the operation. Researchers compared 288 patients who had their planned surgery changed to those who did not, checking their scans and health history. The goal was to find scan features, like liver size, that signal a higher chance of needing a different procedure, which could help future patients and surgeons prepare better.
