CT scans may help surgeons plan better for obesity surgery
NCT ID NCT07296224
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study examined whether a simple CT scan before weight-loss surgery can help predict when a surgeon might need to change their planned approach during the operation. Researchers looked back at records of 288 adults who had gastric bypass surgery at a French hospital over 10 years. They found that certain CT measurements, like left liver volume and abdominal wall thickness, may be linked to the need for a change in surgical strategy.
