New tool could slash unnecessary CT scans for trauma patients
NCT ID NCT04937868
Summary
This study aims to create a simple checklist to help doctors decide which blunt trauma patients truly need a CT scan of their abdomen and pelvis. By carefully checking for specific signs and symptoms, the goal is to safely identify patients at very low risk of serious injury who can avoid the scan. If successful, this could reduce unnecessary radiation exposure, lower healthcare costs, and speed up emergency care for thousands of people each year.
