First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested whether starting with a special CT scan (CT perfusion) instead of going straight to heart catheterization can safely reduce the need for invasive procedures in patients with a mild heart attack (NSTEMI). Researchers enrolled 180 adults with chest pain and elevated troponin levels. The CT-guided group had fewer catheterizations, suggesting many patients can avoid invasive testing without missing serious blockages.
