Heart CT study aims to predict heart failure better than MRI

NCT ID NCT06029400

First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at whether CT scans can be used to check heart tissue health, similar to how MRI does now. MRI is the current best method but has limits—it can't be used in people with certain devices, takes a long time, and can't see the heart's arteries. CT scans are faster and can also check arteries. The study will include 2,200 adults who already need a heart CT for other reasons. Researchers will track who later has heart failure or dies, to see if CT findings can predict these outcomes.
