Plastic retractor could revolutionize throat surgery imaging

This study tests a new plastic mouth retractor designed to hold the mouth open during throat surgery, comparing it to the standard metal retractor. The goal is to see if the plastic version works just as well while allowing better CT imaging. About 20 adults with oral or throat cancer will participate. The study focuses on measuring the surgical working space and does not aim to treat the disease itself.
