CT scan may predict exercise success for leg artery patients

NCT ID NCT07433309

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a routine CT scan can tell doctors which patients with leg artery disease (PAD) will get better with exercise therapy. About 40% of patients don't improve with exercise and need a procedure to open blocked arteries. Researchers will measure muscle quality and belly fat from CT scans already done for care, to see if these predict exercise success. If it works, doctors could use existing scans to choose the best treatment for each patient from the start.
