New spinal fluid test could spot hidden lymphoma in the brain

NCT ID NCT06736613

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study is testing a new spinal fluid test that looks for tumor DNA in people with aggressive B-cell lymphoma who are at high risk for the cancer spreading to the brain. Researchers want to see how often this test finds signs of lymphoma that standard tests miss. About 50 participants will provide spinal fluid samples during their regular treatment, and the study will track whether those with positive results later develop brain relapse.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a better way to detect lymphoma spread to the brain early, potentially guiding more timely treatment.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase study focused on observation, not treatment. The test may not prove reliable enough for routine use, and results may not change outcomes.
