Cold before the needle: new study aims to ease scar treatment pain
NCT ID NCT07336368
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests if applying a brief cold spray to keloid or hypertrophic scars right before a steroid injection can reduce pain and make the injection easier. About 30 adults will have each scar split into two halves: one half gets cold therapy plus the injection, the other gets the injection alone. Participants and doctors will rate pain and resistance to see if the cold helps.
