Freeze away pain: cryotherapy trial for breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05315011

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 23, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at whether whole-body cryotherapy (brief exposure to extreme cold) can reduce joint pain caused by aromatase inhibitors, a common hormone therapy for breast cancer. About 70 women with breast cancer who have joint pain from their medication will be randomly assigned to real or placebo cryotherapy sessions. The goal is to see if the cold treatment improves pain, quality of life, and helps patients stick with their cancer therapy.
