First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests if freezing the nerves between the ribs (cryoablation) provides better pain control than a standard nerve block (ESP catheter) for people with broken ribs. About 48 adults with multiple rib fractures will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The main goal is to see which method leads to lower pain scores one week after the procedure.
