Could freezing tumors replace surgery for some breast cancers?
NCT ID NCT07447414
First seen Mar 24, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests a technique called cryoablation, which uses liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy small breast tumors in postmenopausal women with early-stage, hormone-sensitive breast cancer. The goal is to see if freezing the tumor is as effective as surgery, with fewer side effects. About 140 women will take part, and the main measure of success is whether no cancer cells remain after the procedure.
