Quick blood test may spot deadly leaks after bowel surgery

Summary
This study is testing whether a rapid, finger-prick blood test for C-reactive protein (CRP) can help predict a dangerous complication called anastomotic leak after planned colorectal surgery. The goal is to catch leaks earlier, reduce the need for repeated blood draws, and improve patient recovery. About 500 adults having non-emergency colorectal surgery will participate.
