First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests a new surgical approach for people with Crohn's disease affecting the last part of the small intestine. The surgery removes the diseased section and a portion of the nearby mesentery (fatty tissue), then reconnects the bowel using a special technique called Kono-S anastomosis. Researchers will track complications and whether the disease returns, with the goal of improving long-term outcomes. The study involves 50 participants in Greece.
