New surgical stitch may stop Crohn's disease return

Summary
This study is testing if a newer surgical connection method (Kono-S) is better than the standard method at preventing Crohn's disease from returning after surgery to remove a diseased section of intestine. It will involve 600 adults with Crohn's who need their first surgery. Researchers will follow participants for up to 10 years to see which method leads to fewer disease recurrences and better quality of life.
