New MRI method could make Crohn's monitoring easier and safer
NCT ID NCT05354609
First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests whether a quicker, contrast-free MRI technique (diffusion-weighted MRI) can effectively monitor inflammation in Crohn's disease patients, compared to the standard MRI that requires an injection and bowel cleansing. About 140 adults with Crohn's disease will undergo both types of MRI on the same day. The goal is to see if the newer method is just as accurate, while being more comfortable and avoiding potential long-term side effects of the contrast dye.
