Fungal fighter fails to finish Crohn's trial
NCT ID NCT04966585
Summary
This study tested whether an oral antifungal medication called posaconazole could help control active Crohn's disease. It specifically enrolled 10 adult patients who had both active Crohn's and a particular genetic marker thought to make them sensitive to a common skin fungus. The trial was designed to see if reducing this fungus would calm the immune system and improve gut inflammation, but the study was terminated early.
