New hope for sickle cell patients: drug aims to cut painful episodes

Summary
This study tests an investigational drug called crizanlizumab in people aged 12 and older with sickle cell disease who have frequent painful crises. The goal is to see if the drug can reduce the number of these crises compared to a placebo. Participants may also continue taking hydroxyurea if they already do. The trial is double-blind, meaning neither participants nor doctors know who gets the real drug.
