CPR showdown: compressions only vs. rescue breaths – which wins?

NCT ID NCT03981107

First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026

Summary

This study compares two ways of doing CPR when someone's heart stops outside a hospital: chest compressions only versus compressions plus rescue breaths. About 3,260 adults with witnessed cardiac arrest will take part, and only bystanders with prior CPR training are included. The goal is to see if the simpler method works just as well or better at helping people survive for 30 days.
