New smart drug targets cancer cells in early trial
NCT ID NCT05948865
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-phase trial tests CPO301, a drug designed to seek out and attack cancer cells that have a protein called EGFR on their surface. About 132 adults with advanced solid tumors (including lung, breast, and head & neck cancers) will receive the drug by IV every three weeks. The main goals are to check safety, find the best dose, and see early signs of tumor shrinkage.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- CPO301 (also known as SYS6010), an antibody-drug conjugate that targets EGFR on cancer cells
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a new treatment option for advanced solid tumors like lung cancer that have not responded to other therapies.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early Phase 1 trial with a small number of participants, so safety and effectiveness are not yet proven. The drug may cause side effects or fail to shrink tumors.
