Cancer drug side effect under the microscope: muscle enzyme spike studied

NCT ID NCT01248429

First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at how often a muscle enzyme called CPK increases in people with solid tumors who are taking a type of targeted therapy called tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). Researchers measured CPK levels in 154 patients during routine blood tests. They also checked if muscle pain was linked to higher CPK levels. The goal was to better understand this side effect, not to test a new treatment.
