Simple breathing aid after birth could keep preterm babies out of NICU

NCT ID NCT05204719

Summary

This study is testing whether giving a gentle, steady flow of air (called CPAP) to late preterm babies immediately after they are born by C-section can help them breathe better on their own. The goal is to see if this early support can prevent breathing difficulties and reduce the need for the baby to be admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The trial will compare babies who receive this early CPAP to those who receive the current standard of care.
