Vaccine trial aims to stop diabetes before it starts

NCT ID NCT06452654

Summary

This large study is testing whether giving a COVID-19 vaccine to infants with a high genetic risk for type 1 diabetes can prevent the disease from developing. Over 2,200 children, aged 6 months to 7 months at the start, will receive either the real vaccine or a placebo. Researchers will track them for years to see if the vaccine reduces the appearance of diabetes-related markers or the disease itself.
