Summary
This study tested whether three common drugs—metformin, ivermectin, and fluvoxamine—could prevent severe COVID-19 in 1,323 non-hospitalized adults at higher risk due to overweight. Participants took the drugs or a placebo early after infection. The main goal was to see if these treatments reduced emergency visits, hospitalizations, or deaths. Metformin was found to lower the risk of severe COVID-19, while ivermectin and fluvoxamine did not show clear benefit.
