Scientists probe immune secrets of COVID-19 survivors

NCT ID NCT04565067

Summary

This study aims to understand how the immune system, specifically certain white blood cells called CD8 T cells, responds to the COVID-19 virus in people who have recovered. Researchers are observing 83 adults in Maryland who previously tested positive for COVID-19 and are now symptom-free. By analyzing blood, saliva, and urine samples, they hope to learn why older adults are more vulnerable and gather information that could help create better vaccines.
