First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested whether a single infusion of stem cells from donated umbilical cord tissue (ProTrans®) could help hospitalized adults with severe COVID-19 avoid breathing machines or death. Nineteen participants received either the stem cells or a placebo, plus standard care. The trial was stopped early, so results are limited.
