Blood test could flag COVID patients needing ventilators

NCT ID NCT07466524

Summary

This study looked back at data from 500 U.S. adults hospitalized with COVID-19. Researchers tested whether a specific blood marker (suPAR) measured early in a hospital stay could predict which patients would develop severe breathing failure needing a ventilator within 30 days. The goal was to validate this test for use in diverse U.S. patient populations.
